About the project

VALUE OF JUDO VALUES

Sport has never been a mere objective physical and technical performance. Judo serves as a value navigation system for individuals and communities. It is based on its core values: Friendship, Honora, Respect, Modesty, Politeness, Courage, Self-control, Sincerity …. Values, if developed interpersonally, impact everyday lives of members of Judo community in a positive direction towards better quality of life, also by promoting health through physical activity.

JUDO IS FOR ALL, JUDO IS FOR YOU

But it is not only limited to Judo communities. Benefits of practicing martial art exceed individual level – sport and Judo serve as a great tool for maximizing social inclusion, integration of community.

Ethical aspect of Judo needs a recognition of its potential but also an awareness it doesn’t solve problems by default.

As a pedagogical process and a tool it needs to be applied intentionally, systematically, at intersection of physical activity and conscious transmission of values. Pedagogical value of Judo is often overlooked by sports clubs and associations.

The project practically aims to address and solve problem mentioned by creating a Judo toolkit and e-learning course, to promote awareness of values of Judokas, judo clubs and general public.

In accordance to that, annual activities and events will be organized in Lisbon, Ljubljana and Rijeka. Activities will join in time of European Week of Sport, between 23. 9. – 30. 9. 2023.

Our theme this year is PLAYING FOR PEACE.

EWJV PROJECT HAS BEEN RECOGNISED AND SUPPORTED BY UNESCO

Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences of UNESCO is supporting our project and our Couse.
UNESCO has declared Judo as the best initial sport to train children and youth from 4 to 21 years of age. Judo does not encourage aggressiveness; children learn to cooperate, to respect and develop self-control.
Judo is practiced without blows and kicks in its initial phase, which is safer for children when they begin practicing a martial art. Even though it is a martial art originally, Judo transmits in its practice a certain culture and traditions like respect, discipline, emotional balance, and introduces many other values in the daily habits of children.
This is why UNESCO declared Judo as the best initial sport to train children and youth aged 4 to 21. And to be implemented in all schools.
EWJV project addresses this ethical and educational aspect of Judo, which needs a recognition of its potential but also an awareness. As a pedagogical process and a tool, it needs to be applied intentionally, systematically, at intersection of physical activity and conscious transmission of values. Pedagogical value of Judo is often overlooked by sports clubs and associations.
The project practically aims to address and solve problem mentioned by creating a Judo toolkit and e-learning course, to promote awareness of values of Judokas, judo clubs and general public.
